WHAT IS BETA GLUCAN IMMUNE SYSTEM
Beta-glucans are complex polysaccharides found in various plants and foods, notably in many mushroom species. These β-glucans display a range of biological activities. They influence metabolic and digestive processes, helping to balance the gut microbiome, modulate lipid and glucose metabolism, lower cholesterol, and have led to investigation as possible treatments for metabolic syndrome, obesity and dietary management, gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, and for lowering cardiovascular and diabetes risk.
Because of their immune-modulating action, immune-targeted beta glucans are under investigation as adjuncts for solid tumors and hematologic cancers, for immune-mediated conditions such as allergic rhinitis and respiratory infections, and to improve wound healing. Two glucan preparations were approved as pharmaceutical agents in Japan in 1980 for use as cancer immune adjuvants, illustrating their therapeutic potential. Nonetheless, advancing β-glucan therapies through clinical trials and into clinical practice faces substantial challenges.

BETA GLUCAN IMMUNE SYSTEM BENEFITS:
Supports cardiovascular health: Beta-glucans slow the digestive processing of foods, which can blunt postprandial glucose spikes by reducing the rate of sugar absorption. They have also been shown to help lower blood pressure and reduce serum cholesterol. As a common ingredient in heart-healthy foods, β-glucans are associated with decreased risk of heart attack and cardiovascular disease.
Enhances immune function: Gut health and immune function are closely connected; a diverse, healthy microbiome supports antibody production and immune responsiveness. Beta-glucans may stimulate immune activity, potentially helping the body mount faster and more effective defenses against infections and illnesses.
May reduce complications of chronic disease: Through their beneficial effects on blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure control, some studies suggest beta-glucans could help protect against certain complications of diabetes. There is also evidence that β-glucans can activate lymphocytes and natural killer cells involved in immune defense, though more research is needed to clarify their precise role and mechanisms.
